Hello, thank you for visiting my website.

I am a native Texan with education and broad experience in both Nursing and Civil litigation. I am a lifelong Democrat, and a sustaining member of the Harris County Democratic Party.

In 1977, I graduated with honors from Texas Women’s University with a B. S. degree in Nursing & Biology. In 1990, I received my J.D. degree from the University of Houston Law Center. I put myself through college and law school, and I have published in both the medical and legal literature. During law school I interned for the Honorable James DeAnda, Chief Judge for the Federal Judiciary in the Southern District of Texas.

After college, before attending law school, I worked as a registered nurse. For 10 years, I worked in all areas of the health care system, including significant experience in the mental health field. This experience is important for Probate Court 3 because, as you may know, this court oversees the County’s mental health docket. In deciding on emergency mental health matters it is crucial to understand the complexities of mental health diseases. I am the only candidate in this race with health care experience.

As a civil trial lawyer the past 19 years, I have litigated and tried cases in Federal Courts, State District Courts, and County Probate Courts. I have represented individuals, businesses, school districts, physicians, families, estates and disabled children and adults. The Probate courts have an important role in protecting the rights of the disabled and vulnerable in our society. I am running for Probate Judge because I know a better job can be done protecting the citizens of the Harris County community. This can be accomplished by providing fair, common sense and financially efficient service. As Judge, I will be committed to these goals of excellence in all matters before the Court.

On a personal note, I am the mother of two sons. My son Carey just finished law school and recently passed the California Bar Exam. My younger son Zachary is studying to be a firefighter. I actively support Habitat for Humanity, Women for Women International and the SPCA. I was proud to help the Houston Bar Association build two Habitat for Humanity homes last year. Also, I have recently been approved to be a Big Sister, and I expect to be matched to my Little Sister soon.

I look forward to serving the people of Harris County as one of their Probate Judges.
